Four Legged Superheroes at Comic Con

By Michele C. Hollow of Pet News and Views

Another version of Comic Con International is being staged at Helen Woodward Animal Center, and will  feature real life  superheroes: dogs and cats that are up for adoption.  Labeled Paw-micon, the super heroic staff at the Helen Woodward Animal Center created colorful comic book costumes to dress up their cats and dogs.

“They went all out,” says Jessica Gercke, spokesperson for Helen Woodward Animal Center. “I saw one puppy dressed up as The Paw-nisher and a cat dressed up as Cat-ain America.  Someone told me that Lex Luth-purr was around here with Woof-erine.  I guess they figure, if over 130,000 people will line up for the excitement of seeing a few comic-book characters, these guys can certainly exceed that excitement with untold years of fun and adventure.”

Center adoptable cats and dogs were up on fan-favorite action-adventure shows too!   Hot off the latest movies and HBO hits, Helen Woodward cats and dogs could be seen milling the convention grounds dressed in costumes inspired by Game of Bones, Barking Dawn: Part 2 and The Paw-bbit.   All efforts were made with one sole purpose–to draw the attention of potential adopters inspired to perform a superhero action of their own and provide a lucky pet with a forever home.

To adopt your own superhero or if  you would like more information, contact Helen Woodward Animal Center Adoption Department at: 858-756-4117 ext. 313 or stop by at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe.
